Balloons bring pro-life message sky high

MANTENO—On Oct. 14, more than 300 religious education students and other members of St. Joseph Parish in Manteno enthusiastically released 500 balloons with pro-life messages printed on them. Before the launch, Father Albert Heidecke, pastor, led a brief prayer service.
Included with the messages on the balloons were the phone numbers of Catholic Charities (815-933-7791) and Birthright (815-937-5881). Both organizations offer assistance to pregnant women.
Knights of Columbus Council No. 11358 and St. Joseph Parish of Manteno sponsored the annual event, hoping to help save one or more people from the tragedy of abortion.
